HI folks:

Registered user, new to CCHTMLE but not to HTML. I wrote a 399 KB Start Page in HTML which lists my favorite sites. CC takes *forever* to load it, and, with every mouse click or action, I get the old hourglass, sometimes for as long as 45 seconds. Using Win XP SP3. Can't imagine what the problem is.

Also, I'm hoping I can change the default preview browser to Firefox. Internet Explorer is absolutely not recommended because of its extremely poor implementation of CSS, even IE version 8.0. I know everyone uses it, but to me it is dead last in terms of correct rendering and compatibility. (I do not work for Mozilla, BTW).

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the slowness issue. Fritz

Hiya Charles,

In order to better help you with your loading issue, it would be most beneficial if you'd give us a link to the site page(s) in question so we can take a look at the code. Many times this slowness isn't caused by the editor, but by scripts added to the pages or large images etc. Easier to deduct if we can see what's going on there. :)

There is no changing the default previewer of the internal preview window. That is built upon IE and I'm sure many of us would love to see a change or the ability to put our own preference there too. Suggest it in the Suggestions for HTML Editor thread and who knows.... Best you can do for now is alter your default browser previews and just use those instead of the internal.

I must admit one thing though. Although I too am an avid FF user and would love to see the engine changed that is used for HTML Editor, I do believe that because it's IE and not FF, I find a lot more issues that need fixing that I wouldn't find if it were using FF (in other words, I may grow lazy and not bother to check it enough to realize there are problems with IE).

One of the benefits of having the more "defunct" browser as the base, is that it forces us to make sure it works in that browser. After all, we all already know it almost always works in the others lol.

Do you have it set to run as admin? Is your antivirus software scanning the files when you save? If so turn it off.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Is this to do with disabling scripts in preview?

Also, do you have something like CCleaner on your computer? Do you regularly get rid of junk files?
Maybe it's time for a "tune up".
