Code Editor Window - Page 1

Hi

Is there any way to change the width of the code editor window? Currently, there is no width restriction so if you cut and past a large section of text, it runs horizontally for about 3 miles! This is a nightmare for editing and requires generous use of the enter button to bring the text into a workable block.

Equally, when trying to highlight a section of code, if the code goes beyond the viewable window, the cursor skips all the way to the end of the line...VERY frustrating!

An solutions please?

The Code Cleaner should take care of this.
Click on "Tools", then "Code Cleaner". In the dialog box, you can then specify the wrap width you want to be used.

Thanks for your repsonse.

That seems to do the trick but it won't default so I have to reset it on every page.

Mmmm.....:|

Keith,
I am not sure I fully understand what you mean by it not "defaulting", but just for clarity:
The Code Cleaner is a process that you run each time (and for each page...) you need to.
It does nothing in between runs.

Basically, I want to set a default page width/wrap so every new page I create has the same width/wrap.

With the code cleaner, I need to 'appy' the new width/wrap on every new page...which is a bit of a pain.

Tools - Preferences - General tab - Miscellaneous - Word wrap on by default.

Thank you Inger!
I knew I'd seen it somewhere before - and toggled it on - but just couldn't find it now... :)

There seems to be some confusion with my problem.

It's not the actual web page that I need to fix the width of, its the code-editor page within the HTML Editor.

For comparison, if you fix a page width within the 'page set-up' of MS Word, it fixes the page width for every document you produce from that point onwards.

I'm trying to establish of there is a premenant way to default the viewing window for my code within the HTML code editor?

Hi Keith
If you look at Inger's post there is a way to set the word wrap in the html code editor. From the menu bar in the editor select
Tools - Preferences - General tab - Miscellaneous - Word wrap on by default.

THe editor will then wrap within the editor display window.

I think we're all talking about the editor here, not the resulting web page...
