Hi all.

My website has been well overdue for a complete update.

I've used coffeecup software for over 10 years but only for my website, I'm definitely an amateur.

I started my new website, used responsive layout maker, exported it with a new menu from menu builder to html editor.

I've had to get help from tech support on a couple of issues (very helpful) but my latest issue has occupied me for hours and hours over several days.

I lked the look of the social icons that came with rlmp but they're not functional. So I looked up how to make them work, and downloaded the appropriate scripts and inserted them. Unfortunately, as soon as i tested the page live, the menu loads and appears and then disappears as the social icons load. I guess it's to do with the scripts associated with them.

I started with my contact page and that's as far as i got
After much trial and error and commenting out various scripts I have found that it is the google plus button.

If i comment out the script all is well (except i don't have google plus button functionable)

this is uploaded as www.mortgagemart.co.nz/jan/contact.html

If i leave the script in then my menu disappears and i lose my formatting

as per www.mortgagemart.co.nz/jan/contact2.html

note i have read that maybe i should be making it all https. I have implemented this on my web form, https://mortgagemart.co.nz/brief-contact.html

maybe i need to point all files to https?
really hoping someone can help me

I guess this should really be in menu builder so will re-post on there.I tried pointing to https but that didn't fix the issue

Have you tried rearranging the order of your scripts?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Yes i have to a certain extent but without really knowing what i'm doing. I did comment out each script in turn (facebook, maps, twitter and linkedin) without effect until i got to the google plus button. And the fact that the menu appears and then disappears tends to make me think it shouldn't matter?

I would sort these errors out. It's probably the cause.

I spent some time with the validator tool myself, yesterday.

You will note that several of the errors are part of the menu builder program output (copy to clipboard and paste) and i have not touched any of it. I tend to think I'd be asking for trouble.

I went through the whole document and counted opening and closing "divs" etc, haven't been able to find some of what the validator mentions

I guess my biggest problem is that most of what it finds are in copied and pasted code

thanks for your time, I'll keep going through it

Hi Eric

I deleted the google plus code and copied and pasted in again...and it works!

Very pleased of course, and thank you for your help

Great! Figured it was something on there causing the issue. I did see the stray </i> tag in the Google script and now it's gone. Have fun with your new discovery.
