The difference between Responsive...

Hey there!

I just not too long ago purchased the Responsive Site Designer suite of tools (and I like it very much thank you!),
but I was wondering what's the difference between RSD and Foundation Framer?

Some questions / suggestions that I think would be awesome for RSD and/or FF:

- The ability to rename the page (ie., index.php; by default you only are exporting as HTML)

Does it make sense to upgrade to Foundation Framer yet? I *just* within the last 2-3 weeks just purchased
the RSD suite, and I don't have any live projects done with it yet, but Foundation Framer looks cool tho.

Let me know; I might get the beta if you can make some compelling arguments for it; it'd be another cool tool to add to my ever-expanding toolbox of development apps.

best,
Mike

Hey Mike,

Thanks for posting and the compliments on RSD! I compiled a brief comparison between the 2 apps, Foundation Framer vs. Responsive Site Designer here.

As to the suggestions, thanks for those too, we will take them into account. It would help us keep track of them if you could add them to the proper (suggestions) thread though :P

From mobile up is a good thing. Both Foundation and Bootstrap are made for that. It has also taken me a bit of getting used to it (have been using Bootstrap for a while), but now I can't think of doing it any other way.

That's kind of how I feel. It's hard to 'see' what a full site will look like when you start at the mobile end.

I'm going to try and see how it goes starting that way and working outward.

It just seems easier to hide things going down than adding going up but I'm OK with trying a site the other way (maybe). :D

Yes, the foundation classes make it easy to choose. That was also so far the best thing I've found with that new programme.

I'm getting there with doing it from the smallest up, just needs some time I am sure

Ernie what I found helpful for me to get my head around the idea about the design going at large screen then trying to get the smaller design was to do a layout at the large screen size in RSD then do a preview onto a browser. Leave that up, then open RFF and start keep using the browser of the large design as a reference for what you are after, it makes it a lot easier to get going at the smaller sizes,,, a little bit more work in the beginning thats true but I found it helped me start thinking small,, first,,,, then once the lowest size is satisfactory, it becomes very easy and natural to make changes to the design as you move up. taking advantage of all the new things that RFF has to offer.

So far all I can say is Brilliant.... and will I am sure just keep getting better and better

Have a great day or night to everyone wherever in the world you are........i'm off to my local watering spot for a couple of cold beers and some BBQ spare ribs (wife fasting during Rhamadan so gives me good excuse to go anyway)

Bob,
Sorry about that; I'm new here!

Looking at your article, it might be REASON ENOUGH to move to Foundation Farmer for the responsive menus *alone* (jumping from Menu Builder and adding code in RSD via a custom HTML element on every page would be a nightmare.)

Give me a week and I'll join the beta. Thanks so much everyone for your thoughts, I appreciate it! :)

best,
Mike
