I am creating on a site that has a very small flash made with Firestarter on the homepage. However, when I save my project, the only thing that shows up in the folder is the .fire file. I do not have anything else, and cannot place the flash video into VSD. I can preview the flash movie using Firestarter and it looks fine. I have not uploaded the project to the server yet since I wanted to get closer to completing the site.

Any suggestions?

have you tried saving as Macromedia? then using the add files add the swf file into VSD.

Yes, I tried that. However the files do not show up at all. It is like the Firestarter program is saving only the .fire and nothing else.

I am unable to use the flash button on the left of VSD to add the flash to my site since there aren't project files to view in the site folder other than the .fire

Can you try it one more time and this time save the fire project to your desktop. And you are using the current version correct? 7.3 "It's A Smart Person That Asks"

Give an unistall and reinstall a try as well if you still cannot get anything to show. "It's A Smart Person That Asks"

Okay, did all that and still nothing. I can open my folder and see the saved files in my Documents folder, but I cannot view them when I am in VSD. When I select the flash tool in VSD to add the files, I cannot view the .swf file. In fact, none of the saved files from Firestarter show up.

I reinstalled Firestarter and VSD with the same results. I even tried pulling up a different website I created in VSD to see if anything showed up differently when I tried to add the movie, and I still am unable to see any flash files for the Firestarter movie.

I have created other Firestarter movies and it was as simple as clicking the flash tool in VSD. I don't know what I did wrong this time.

You need to look for the xml file with the flash tool in VSD. I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's so easy to overlook something your not looking for.

It does not show up using the flash tool in VSD. I can located it in my Documents folder with the other website files, and I can locate it on my Desktop, but it does not show up when I try to use the flash tool in VSD. Is there another way to bring the file into VSD?

Firestarter will not work using the flash tool. sorry!, it doesn't produce a xml either. so best way to add your project is to save as fire project, copy the html code provided, paste that into VSD using the html tool, the go to edit, and then add files, to add the swf file.

Amy do as Bruzer is stating and it should work for fire starter swf files.
Key board
Ctrl + Alt + F

Click on Root

Click on "Add files" at the bottom (White paper icon with green x)
Now browse to the swf file made by fire starter.
Paste the code produced by firestarter to a HTML box. I can't hear what I'm looking at.
