How about fixing the HUGE file size bug?
Glen
We are looking into that issue. If you can send me the source files to scott@coffeecup.com, I can keep providing our developers with as many examples as possible. This way they can stop calling me crazy

Scott, here is the thing. You have been receiving these for 2 years now. It happens all the time to people in here, but not consistantly for your techs? I just find that really odd. Especially for two years running.
The firestarter project file gets saved to a much smaller file. Sometimes under 20k. So why would a 20k firestarter file turn into a 120k swf file? It's almost like you have the compression reversed in the code. I've attached a picture with the file size for both the swf a fire files.
Another piece of the puzzle. I take the current project, open it up in version 6.5, and the file gets reduced to 45k from the 117k it was before.
In 7.2 are you including extra library items that aren't used? As in are you including the full library and not just what is needed?
Glen
Here is my suggestion for Firestarter: I'd like to be able to use more than one text color in the same text box. The flash animation at the top of this page had to have multiple text boxes in order to have lines of text that are white with links that are yellow:
http://www.disneysubmarines.com/index.html
Either that, or cause the programs to allow you to choose a color for links, otherwise if I link a word inside of an animation how will people even know that's a link? It was very important to me that all the links were the same color across my entire site (yellow against blue/black or blue against yellow).
Another glitch in Firestarter is that is does not allow you to save graphics at the quality they need to be. With some graphics I've used they showed up fuzzy and pixelated in the animation even when I turned the image quality all the way up as high as it would go in Firestarter (and the original images looked just fine.)
Like VSD, Firestarter compresses images too much. Internet speeds are getting faster, standards are changing, its a good idea to turn down the compression in your software.
Thanks for considering my suggestions.

Please tell me what I am to tell the Veterans Center about why they can't use their created files on the web?
Did anyone look at the library files as far as including all files instead of what is needed for a specific project?
Has anyone looked at the differences between the old version output includes and this version for output differences? Can it just be reset to the old version's way of doing things?

I think what is best would be to have you open a support ticket so that our techs can take a look at your files. You can open one over at
http://www.coffeecup.com/help/myroom
This forum here is for FireStarter Suggestions and not technical support. If you want to use the Forms for support, open a new topic instead over at

Scott, I originally did go to the very topic that stated this problem. (Very large size of SWF files from Firestarter)
It was ignored. You talked about suggestions on improving the program. This is a very important improvement.
It isn't a technical support issue. It is a program output one. People have talked about this problem for 2 years. For some reason only your people haven't been able to recreate it consistantly.
It isn't the files, it is the file output. Using version 6.5 I was able to reduce the size from 117k to 45k. Just by opening it and saving it. Nothing else.
It's an output issue with the program. A huge improvement issue, don't you think?
Glen
Without having more information, I really can't say. I looked at your account with us and you have never filled out any support tickets. We really need to have all source files for us to examine what is going on. I can't make a comment one way or another without a little more information.
If we can replicate the issue in house, we definitely can fix it.
