I made some flash movies that played ok with an earlier version of Flash player. I updated flash and they still played now that I have the latest version of Flash They don't when made whilst that new version is present. But the curious thing is The ones made whilst the older flash version was installed work in the present version of flash. It must be the creation of the swf files in the new flash environment that are is accepted.

I tried a swf file made with Firestarter in the new Flash environment in another web builder and it played with no trouble.
In VSD it would not play in any selected browser as a preview. But going to the saved html from VSD it plays ok. Doesn't make sense unless the html is altered as passed to the preview

So I copied a working flash movie into another page and it worked. I then opened the same movie in Firestarter 6.7 Same as I made the movie in an earlier flash environment. Checked it out ok then saved as different fire and swf files. Copied and inserted the html into a new box in VSD and no play. So all I can think is that the Firestarter uses a previous Flash SDK which is no longer compatable. That does make sense.Maybe by recompiling with the latest SDK could sort things.
I went to the Adobe site and found old versions so I shall try uninstalling the latest version and install an earlier version to make the movies. I will leave one browser with the latest flash to test.

Looks like another utility begging to be created. SWF to SWF complient

Think I am barking up the wrong tree. The present Firestarter files work. I was put off as I thought when you previewed all files got transferred to the temp folder. So with a manual copy, all is working. Should have checked.

I deleted the vsd_tempdir to see what was transferred. I think I will have to check more. I have also been looking at many swf files as to their make up and the differences is surprising. I shall try the different html calling routines to check the difference and performance using Firestarter files. My next challenge is to see what actually is a swf file and what makes it tick.
