Firestarter files not found

I am trying to insert a flash intro to my website (thecowboyrides.com) using VSD version 6. I have watched (& re-watched) the tutorials, to no avail.

When I save the file as .swf then .fire, they are both going in the firestarter projects folder. I click on html tool and paste the code. I go to add the files, it allows me look for .xml files only. I have tried using the flash tool and html tools; flash gives me the option of "all files" but the .swf and .fire files do not show up.

When I preview the page, I have a white rectangle where the movie should be. The html and/or flash tool spot on my file pages state "preview not available" but does not say html or flash.

What am I missing, because my sanity is rapidly disappearing? Need to know - I am using Vista Home Premium 64 bit and did not have any problems with the previous version of VSD. http:www.royalwadekimes.com

Hi Teresa,
What I do is save as fire, that produces an html, swf, and fire file, a windows opens with a code on the right which gets pasted into your page in VSD using the html tool. save it, then you go to settings > add files > and locate the swf file and of course click ok to add, save it again and you shold be able to preview it. and upload VSD when ready. Hope this helps. :) "It's A Smart Person That Asks"

Thanks for the reply. I'm quite sure I'm missing something. However, when I follow the steps you mentioned, I'm still unable to locate the files in the firestarter/projects folder. The files are there; I double-check prior to trying to insert them.

I've also tried changing the compatibility of the software with my computer, even tried on a different computer using XP. The files do not show up when I'm searching for them to add to VSD. I'm so confused...... ;-) http:www.royalwadekimes.com

OK I'm not sure about a 64 bit system, and I thought they would be basically the same. So what I would suggest is re-opening your project and save as "save fire project" and just for the hac of it save it else wheres and see if that works for you. Something is certainly wrong whether it's the saving or just lost of location I believe. see below as what andhow I do it.

Oh and the only way it would only ask for an xml file is if you clicked on the flash tool, which won't be able to use because Firestarter does not produce an xml file. just an FYI thingy :) "It's A Smart Person That Asks"

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!

Saving it to a different folder worked!! Now, if you can somehow tell me how to get the last three hours of my life back, I'd be forever indebted.....

Thanks again! http:www.royalwadekimes.com
