running Vista - Installed latest Firestarter. When I run bannerwizard and try to insert text I get a "The parameter is incorrect" error popup. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Any ideas how to get around this?

Hi,

I'm a new Firestarter user and have so far created an intro page for my site.
I too am having the same problem as described above. I can't use the BannerWizard because of this error message popping up all the time.
My workaround was to just make my movie smaller in size and use it as a banner. But I'd like to know why this is happening.
(I'm using Vista as well)

Thanks,
Geoff

Fear not, it's been listed in the bugs to look into. ;) In the meantime, Geoff's workaround should do the trick. http://www.flashstrap.com

I realize this is way late, but as I found this thread while searching for a solution to the same problem, I thought I would throw my findings in for review.

It seems the only time the 'parameter is incorrect' error pops up is when my cursor crossed the 'Bold', 'Italic', and 'Underline' areas of the window. As long as I steer clear of this mid-section of the window, the program functions just fine. Annoying, sure, but for a great program from great people...I'll deal until it's taken care of in a future version.

Hope it helps someone else new out there.

I too have the same problem. Thanks Darin for the tip. That will get me around the issue for now. Lonnie G.

Is this still a supported software? Just curious since the first person that reported in this thread did so in 2007 and 2 years later it's still not working? I'm not sure what software is still being worked on and what is not yet, so that's why I'm asking. I was thinking to delve into this program at some point soon to figure out what it's all about since I know nothing about it lol. No sense bothering though if it's not going to work right or isn't supported anymore so let me know please if it's worth getting into it or not. thanks :) Jo Ann

It is supported still but not actively being worked on. Sooner or later we will need to make some decisions internally on the future development of the program. ~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~
