How about once an egg is claimed it would give a hint to another unclaimed egg.
Also have a point system, you get one point for each claimed egg you find and the top 5 or so people that have the most points gets a prize.

I agree with Kerstin. I spent a TON of time on the Egg Hunt. As in probably around 24 hours. I'm not saying I didn't get a great prize, because I did, but having a points system could assure that people with time to spend would get a good prize. Or you could have the huge laptop and thousand dollar eggs, but place additional laptop/money eggs in an "egg store" that users with a lot of time to spend could buy using points. And the best eggs are already not geared toward the more casual hunters... To get that golden egg you had to spend time looking through and researching the clues. I really like the egg designing idea. It would make them more unique and it would give the hunt a personal touch. (And next year someone should turn off Scott's TV so that he will spend more time on the boards and less time watching Iron Chef. :P)

and what about a Christmas hunt?

Christmas in July!! With everyone finding a single Advent door each day, and assembling the clues to the final stocking(s) full of goodies or coupons. Repeat and light the Menora (sp?) over winter holidays.

I really liked the idea of using QR codes and ASCII binary for the finals. Maybe that's something to work into more of the egg clues next year.

I can't seem to find a reliable desktop based QR code scanner that will read graphics (they want webcams) so maybe that's another product CoffeeCup can write on the side. 8^D http://about.me/dillieo

Code slinger... Egg hunter extraordinaire...

What about charging a $5 fee to play with a guarantee to find at least something of a $5 value?

Our CFO would love that idea. ;) ~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~

Is that American or Canadian $ ? I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's so easy to overlook something your not looking for.

Had I been quick enough to solve the golden egg clues, I would not have been able to claim the prize because I do not have a QR code scanner. How disappointing it would have been to have made it that far only to find out I couldn't claim it! I don't think any special equipment should be required to find the golden egg as it puts at least some people at a disadvantage.

I like the idea of parts of the website directly relating to what types of eggs are hidden on them. There is a support article called "Cloaking" and I kept thinking that would be the perfect place to hide a Starship Enterprise egg!

The Egg hunt was a blast! Thanks for putting it on every year. I can hardly wait until until next year!

If you search there web, there are many free web services and software programs you can use to read them. You don't need any hardware. Just search Google for "QR Code Reader" and you have many options. ~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~

I had a ton of fun looking for eggs... perhaps next year have a super special egg that will only be able to be found if all the eggs are found by a certain time!

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
