Hello all.

Is there a way to access previous Direct FTP error messages?

Thanks I should have something clever to say... but I don't.

To generate a log file, this is what you need to do:

1. Select the Direct FTP desktop icon and hold down the Shift key while double-clicking with your mouse. (Note: The Direct FTP icon must be located on your desktop. If it is not, move it there.)

2. A window will pop up. Make a note of the path that appears in it, and then select Yes.

3. Direct FTP will open. Try to connect to your server again and close the program.

4. Go to the path you made a note of, and send us the "DFTP Debug #.# log.txt". ~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~

I guess I wasn't very clear. I am not having a problem with DirectFTP. The errors are from the server. I was just hoping to be able to see some sort of error log - so that I can communicate with my hosting provider about these errors. Which is not always an easy task. Hiya midcentury,

wouldn't you look on your server for that? Why would DirectFTP contain a log of your server errors? Only way for that would be if you can find the file on your server that contains the logs, but that wouldn't be something for answering here, that's something you should probably ask your hosting server about? Just sayin' :) Jo Ann

I must be having some kind of communication problems today. :/ phase of the moon I guess?

When I connect using dftp using standard ftp protocol all's well - until I try to use the SFTP protocol within dftp. The server returns errors via dftp. The big yellow box appears on the right pane, explaining that the connection failed & may include a server message. The hosting server wants to know the error I received.

So the problem is solved - I just retried all of the secure protocols in dftp & cut/paste the errors shown on dftp. Just would have been a little easier if there was a "connection error log"

ie:
Requested FTP SSL level failed. [64] Additional information: Requested SSL level failed.
Server has replied: [500] AUTH not understood AUTH not understood.
