Good News !!

The first time I have ever contacted support for help and guess what?

My only response from them was from Scott asking to give them a call and they would charge me 15.00 for 30 minutes of help.

That was extremely disappointing. I read reviews that coffee cup was helpful.

That was not much help, if you ask me!

Thanks

so far, that is all. I wrote a response that was probably not favorable, but it stunned me that I have never asked for support and they want to charge for it.

I will call godaddy tomorrow. It is frustrating dealing with them at times, but at least they try to help, and don't charge for support!

I just created a new page and link. It does not publish to the right spot, but I can manually move it into the index.html file with godaddy and it appears, but the top buttons are all broken. I duplicate the page when creating, and then make changes to the page, but something is going wrong now with the pages. The top links and buttons are messed up.

The site is:

www.thesportsprophet.com

thanks for any help

John, I don't think you accurately read my reply. We never said we would charge you for support. I offered an option for you to purchase a priority phone support option and we would remotely connect to your computer and see if we can fix this for you. It is not mandatory. All support over e-mail is and always is free. What you are describing however no one has ever run into, so I am positive it is not a software related issue, but more of an operating system problem.

Did you try putting your username after the / ?

Our hosting services do not require a "Home" or "Start" directory, so leave the field blank. If the client requires a value, enter a single forward slash followed by your hosting account user name (i.e., /<user name>).

Sorry, I may have missed something in that response.

I don't know which field you are referring to

ftp.thesportsprophet.com
username
password
/ in the remote

which field are saying needs to be blank. I had to put the forward slash in the remote folder to have it even publish the homepage.

I can guarantee you that the issue is as follows:

1. You have a folder called index.html on your server as well as a file called index.html. This is probably left over from when you configured your FTP settings incorrectly at one time.

2. You need to delete the index.html folder over FTP

3. Go into your FTP settings and simply put for the remote folder path a /

4. Publish

Everything will then work out.

quote from your second post:

"When I created the new pages, I did not create a link that I know of. I added a new page. ***marked it to duplicate the home page***, and made the changes I needed to create the different page."

Does anything different happen if you create a new page and you do not duplicate the home page?

Thanks,
yeto

thanks yeto

yes I did just make the last page and did not duplicate the homepage. I tried duplicating the second page, but it did the same thing. I will try what Scott just suggested and see what happens. It may eliminate the problem, or eliminate the website in godaddy. Either way, I will try anything at this point.

the ftp settings could have been set up wrong when I was on the phone with godaddy. One of their people had me trying all sorts of things in the ftp settings.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
