Having uploaded my site I notice a line of colour spectrum across the page. On the homepage it is roughly across the centre of the page and on some other pages it is along the top border of the page.

What is this line and how can I get rid of it?

Try upgrading to the latest version of VSD.

Looks like you added it as a background image to your page.
Click on "Page" at the top then look at the page properties that opens to the right for your background image.
