table - absolute positioning - photo load order question

I have 20 different items on a web page. I change the order of the items on the web page occasionally. The top ten items are above the “fold”. I have the top ten items in a table so that they will load before the bottom ten items no matter the absolute positioning or order that I enter the item photos.

Here is the problem. I can’t seem to prove that this actually works. I check this page by deleting history/cache and sometimes it works like I think it should and sometimes it does not work. I was wondering by using the table am I accomplishing what I want (I want the photos above the fold to load first) or am I fooling myself in that the photos are going to load in the order posted no matter what?

Thanks in advance for any help,
yeto

Yeto, Have you tried any scripts to pre-load your images?

Thank you for your reply.

I have not tried scripts. That looks interesting. Do you think that the "table" idea is not working? I wish someone could confirm this for me.

Thanks,
yeto

I would compress them as much as you dare and try the scripts to see if it will help the tables. I can't hear what I'm looking at when it's so easy to overlook something I'm not looking for.

I think I have found a work around. I can change the z-index order by using the arrange (forward, front, backward and back) options. Seems to be working so far.

Hope this helps someone else,
yeto
