Starting VSD

I am running a PC in Windows 8 with the 7.0.26 version of VSD. I have two questions, first, the program will not open by simply clicking on the desktop icon, I have to right click and select "Run as Administrator". Second question is, when I select "Create a New Website Based on a Theme" should I not get the "Website Projects Setting" box that I get in the HTML Editor, so I set the path where the project is located and the projects name.
I have reinstalled the program already and it did not change.

I have to right click and select "Run as Administrator".

You can set so it always open with Run as Administrator. Just righclick on the icon on the desktop and goto properties. Check off Run as Administrator. Unfortunately this is something that will be required to do for Windows 7 or higher.

Second question is, when I select "Create a New Website Based on a Theme" should I not get the "Website Projects Setting" box that I get in the HTML Editor, so I set the path where the project is located and the projects name.

In Visual Site Designer when you create a new website based on a theme you should get a pop up to select from the themes that you have purchased or themes that you got by default with VSD. You will not need to use HMTL editor with this application. If you would like to add some HTML code to your page you can select the add HTML box on the left hand toolbar and enter any custom HTML you would like.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for tour reply. The first answer did clear that up, but as for my second question, I know that that I don't need the HTML Editor, I was only using that as an example. When I do a new web site with the HTML Editor either from scratch or with a theme, I get the pop up window Website Projects Setting. When I start a new project in the VSD, I do not get this window. It asks for the project name and also the project location.
I assume that if it is not part of the VSD, then I will need to first go to where the projects are located on my computer and create a new folder for the project correct?

So when you select Open based on theme:

Then you should get the following:

If you wanted to open a website that you have already created then you would select open an existing website... then you would browse to where you saved it previously.

To start a new website in VSD do as Steve says above. The first time you save it the program will ask you for a location to save to.

To start a new website in VSD 'without' using a theme, select File/New Website from the menu and begin. The first time you save the website it will ask you for a location to save to.

You will not get any pop-ups for 'projects' when using VSD.

The 'Page Title' is anything you want to name your website. This title appears on the tab in your browser when someone goes to the site.

The 'Page ID' is the name of the page. My first page is always 'index'.

Thanks to both, and Gunsmoke, that makes sense.

There are no "Website Projects" in VSD.
Before I start a VSD site, I make a folder to hold all of the files I'll need for that site. From within VSD, choose that folder to save the site to (this puts the .vnu and VSD's FILES folder into it.
I also add folders for images, content, scripts (sliders, etc.).
Keep everything for your website within one main folder, it will be similar to having a Website Project. ;)
