Hi,

I keep having issues with pictures disappearing, and I'm not sure why. I tried looking at some similar issues on the forum here, and that didn't seem to apply. My pictures are jpg and small, and also one of pictures came with the template. One thing I am noticing is that when I open the software up to make updates (I need to do this maybe once a month or so), I frequently get the error message "the selected picture does not exist." And the pictures seem to be missing in the program on my computer. Now I have noticed once or twice that the pictures go missing online as well. Right now a picture that came with the template is missing on the contact page.

One thing I thought may potentially be an issue is that every time I make updates and save, a new title is listed, so at this point there are numerous titles for this website saved on my computer, and I'm scrolling through to find the most recent one. Could this be causing the problem? And if so, how might I go about fixing it?

Thanks so much, I appreciate your time!

Make sure you don't move any files that you add to your site from their original location when you actually added them. The best approach is to have a folder inside your mydocuments/coffeecupsoftare/visual site designer folder named something like mywebsitename_files_and_stuff and add all content to that folder before you add it to a page then in VSD when you want to add it to a page you browse to that location. This will make it not only easy to find what your looking for but easy to get your computer set back up on a hard drive swap or new pc purchase. Also don't alter or touch any directories that VSD creates inside the mywebsitename_website folder.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Ok, thank you Eric. I will definitely try that. The pictures are saved all over the place on my computer, so that makes sense that that could be the issue.

I appreciate your time!

Another thing to look at would be 'Settings/Preferences' off the top menu. Then look at 'Saving creates a .vnu backup here' and click on the 'here'. There will be multiple backup files. Are these the files you are 'scrolling through' to load your web site? If so, this is not what you want to do. As Eric said, you need to create a directory and save/load your web site from that directory only. Unless something goes wrong.

I think that is where I'm loading them from, so maybe that is what's causing the problems. Thanks for mentioning that, I'll try to play around with it and see if I can get it set up correctly. Thank you!
