How Would You Approach This? - Page 2

Not sure how visuallightbox would let him 'sell' his products any easier than what he's doing. WOW slider will let you put in a url and target but I'm not sure if that would be any easier. A shopping cart is probably the best way to go. And since these products will ship and not be digital download I'd say Chef-Scott has the right idea and you should set up with SCCP and SCDP. SCCP is Shopping Cart Creater Pro and SCDP is Shopping Cart Designer Pro. You create your cart with SCCP and then can change many options such as colors, graphics and such to make it match your style with SCDP. They kind of work together. You can download both programs for a test period, no restrictions, full programs.

I am trying to simplify my life by eliminating some of the information I attach to each image page so that going forward I will only have the name of the image and a "request for information" type of field I can make with Form Builder. I can then handle inquiries personally via email, telephone and in my gallery. I am also going to eliminate online purchases via Paypal as I only get maybe 1 or 2 a year anyway. (I know this may sound strange, but 100% of my online sale are from existing clients and due to the higher pricing of my work, it is extremely unlikely that someone who has not seen my work in person, would buy it from a small image on my site.)

The reason I suggested this was because he was going to stop selling online.

I agree that lightbox would be easy to display, but would still need links to buy each product.

Yeah I would agree with Steve that Visual Lightbox would probably be a good alternative and very easy to update (as long as your file structure doesn't change). You could also check out CoffeeCups S-Drive setup with their new photo gallery update to do HTML galleries, but you said you want it all on your server, it is an option to check out though.

Steve:

Thanks for the tip on Visual Lightbox. I went to their site, downloaded it and installed it, then....... nothing. It will not start. Uninstalled it, re-downloaded. Did a fresh reboot, reinstalled it..... nothing.

Windows 7 Home Premium, >250GB HD space....

I just sent an email off to their support and we'll see what happens.

Did you install/run with admin rights? I have a Win7 Home Premium and it works like a champ.

Gunsmoke:

Thanks, yes I did try running with admin rights and also tried this suggestion from them:
Try to do the following:

Control panel -> System -> Advanced system settings -> (Performance) Settings -> Data Execution Prevention.

Turn off DEP or add VisualLightBox in the exception list.

Guess I'll have to wait to see if they can come up with any other ideas. Not sure I should be posting any more on this tech issue on the CC board as it is not their product:-)

Well, you're trying to get it to work on VSD so feel free to post. It's not as issue with Visual Lightbox as we have several users, myself included, that use it with no problem. Something else must be wrong. Hmmm...

Just checked, I have Performance set to: Let windows decide...and DEP is turned ON.

If you can't get it to work yet, try this from one of our users. Different program but works about the same. Instead of Visual Lightbox it's called ColorBox. http://progrower.coffeecup.com/colorboxpics.html

Try this site. We use this program for all our portrait work. it would be adaptable for scenic photography as easy as anything.
There is also a companion program called daves uploader which is well worth the price. Have been using it for about 3 years and as happy as we can be.
