Files erased when uploading from...

I have a home PC and a work PC. I want to be able to update my sites from either place. If I update from the same computer each time everything works. The issue comes from when I update from the other computer.

If I update from home PC I will get a "404 page not found" error when I visit the site.I must click "Publish" a second time. Then I will get the page - but all images are missing. I must then open my FTP client and manually copy all the files the were n the files folder back over. For some reason when I publish the site, all the images are deleted from the server. - Updates thereafter from home work properly.

If I then update from my work PC I must do the same thing. On first publish I get a 404 error and I must publish again. but again all the images are missing and I must copy them over manually as they have been deleted from the site. - Updates thereafter from work again work properly.

Any clues as to what is going on? Seems to me the program should check the server for missing files and replace them, but then again why does it delete them to begin with??

Are you saving you vsd site to a flash drive and taking it from pc to pc?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Yes, I do a full back up of my files to a 1Tb drive using Allway Sync. But even if I don't change anything I get the same issues. I just updated from work this morning, so if I go home right now and get on my laptop, don't change anything and click Publish, it will delete my images from the files folder and I will get 404 first, then I will have to publish again to get the page to show with no images. Then manually copy the files over. I could then come back to my shop and do nothing but click publish and I will have to repeat the process. This happens too even if I make changes on my work computer, take them home and copy them to my laptop and publish or visa-versa.

Because of this I have been trying to update from just one computer, but sometimes I can't wait until I can get to that computer.

Not a backup but an actual "Save site as" then to flash drive.

I don't do that, no. But all the files should be in the website folder and all the info should be in the .vnu file should it not?

They are but each backup is specific to each pc and VSD doesn't know anything about backup files.:)

No, I miss understood, I'm not doing an actual "backup". I simply copy the web site folder and the .vnu folder to my other computer. and then open the .vnu file with VSD.

Would dragging and dropping the VSD files from the pc to an external drive and overwriting work the same?
