Embedding Google's website translator...

I’ve just come across this, and have generated the HTML code:
http://translate.google.com/translate_tools.

I have inserted the code into my VSD-made site. So far, so good. But when I preview my site, there’s nothing there. It's completely blank.

I am only using the code which Google themselves have generated, and putting it in with the "Add HTML" button on the left.

My website’s not been published yet – there’s a holding page occupying that spot.

I’m using Windows Vista, and a freshly-registered version of VSD.

Any suggestions, please?

Thanks, folks.

If I am not mistaken the google translator only works when the website is published and someone lands on the website from a non-english country so that translation is needed.
I would check again with google where you found the code as to when an how the translator activates itself on your website.

Thanks for your reply. :)

So far, I've only seen it here: http://www.numarineuk.co.uk/. This is in English, and it gives me all the language options you could ask for. I'm viewing it from England!

You can place Google's translate button on your site and choose a language to translate to.

Thanks (again!), Tom.

How do I do that? I've tried inserting Google's generated code into my VSD-made site, but it appears blank when the site's previewed...

I'm pretty sure that as was mentioned above, you won't see it until it's uploaded "live".

With VSD, you have to insert code using the html tool - not text tool.

Thanks, Tom.

Yes, I'm using the "Add HTML" button on the left of the screen.

I inserted the following code into the "Body HTML" section of the "Insert HTML" dialogue box (cut and pasted directly from Google):

<div id="google_translate_element"></div><script>
function googleTranslateElementInit() {
new google.translate.TranslateElement({
pageLanguage: 'en'
}, 'google_translate_element');
}
</script><script src="//translate.google.com/translate_a/element.js?cb=googleTranslateElementInit"></script>

On completion and previewing, there's nothing coming up in any browser - just a complete blank!... :|

I'm only previewing my site at this stage, but all the other third party widgets included by the use of inserting HTML code (I have a couple of Myspace videos and some Photobucket galleries) work fine when being previewed...

This is correct. It will show up after uploading.
As for other third-party widgets, it all depends on what the widgets contain in terms of code and scripts, etc..

Thanks, Per. I guess I'll just have to wait until I upload... :)
