Wow! I would have NEVER thought that the Golden Egg clue would have been that complicated in a million years!....Used and Abused are words CC uses on their About Page.....Konami? Wow! How that came out of it is WAY beyond me!

Maybe we'll get lucky next year with another hunt! :D

It was fun the first 6 hours I wasted on it. Then it became frustrating when posts came out saying how obvious the hiding places were about half way through the first round. In a person's forum profile, with all the users on here? Searching "burma shave" before any of the clues? On certain pages at X minute intervals? Are you trying to burn bandwidth? LOL.

I suspect they seemed obvious to the hiders but to someone coming in cold it was just dumb luck to find most of them.

On the other hand, it was great promotion. Thousands (I'm guessing) of people all over the site looking at all the great products you offer that they probably didn't know about, Facebook and Twitter followers galore, word of mouth buzz... all brilliant marketing.

If you do it again, please don't tell me about it! I can't afford the time :)

Wow...what a great way to hide the golden egg, BUT...

How on earth did Vinnie go to the Direct FTP page, enter the Konami cheat code, and then not be sure where or how he found it??? Just curious... Josh Thomas

When I spoke with Vinnie he said that he had a bunch of tabs open and was trying various things in all of them at the same time. I think he triggered the Golden Egg without being 100% certain of the sequence because, like many of you, hours of searching and trying things had clouded his memory.

When I quizzed him over the phone about how he found the egg, he was able to re-create the steps used to trigger it's appearance. Of course, this was after the excitement and urgency had died down and he was able to think clearly and retrace his steps.

Just so you know, there were two other people that tried the Konami Code on a number of pages on our site in search of the Golden Egg. One of them triggered it over the weekend, and like Vinnie, couldn't answer the 'favorite song' question. The other person (unfortunately) had the key sequence wrong and would enter UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, A, B instead of UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A.

UPDATE: I just spoke with Suzanne and she informed me that Vinnie instructed us to split the winnings with Miriam 50/50, and that Miriam has decided to pledge her share to Mike's MS campaign. How's that for generosity?!

All of this has left me honored to have such a wonderful community of people using our products. We had hoped this Egg Hunt would be fun, and create a little buzz. The result has been so much better. Reading the forums, Facebook threads and Twitter posts has proven to me what I've felt for the last 12 years - we truly do have the best customers on the Internet.

Thanks to everyone for making this Egg Hunt a big success. We will do it again soon. ;)

Part of me hopes that soon means like next week... Part of me hopes soon means never ever again... I want to win--shoot, I'd be happy just to figure out a clue! But I don't know if I can take the agony again! Josh Thomas

I need a CoffeeCup coder to show me how they coded this egg hunt. I would really love to do something similar for one of my sites sometime.

Would CC be willing to share any information regarding this campaign? Like...number of new facebook/twitter followers...increase in traffic on the site...number of new members...[fingers crossed]...increase in sales during and immediately following the campaign Josh Thomas

We can't spill the secret sauce, then we couldn't do it again!

We'll compile some stats and might post them soon. First we need to take some time to be able to see what the exact impact was. :)

Soon???? OMG... I need a year to recover form this! LOL But I did have fun and would do it again...but after I recover. LOL Think those who stayed with it through the end deserve a extra pat on the back. :D

I sort of quit after I got my egg. LOL Would look once in a while...I also had to figure out how I found mine. LOL I was just too shocked and delighted to even process the info at the time. LOL But I finally figured it out. :D

Now...when all this started I was supposed to be beta testing the HTML Editor...now that I have things behind me, including the egg hunt, I can now do this. :D Sue aka CR Azy
