Direct FTP has had this feature for a while, but now it’s better than ever! Simply choose a file on your server and click the Edit button. The new Direct FTP gives you plenty of room to work, a clean interface, and the ability to manage and edit lots of files at once. Oh, and did we mention the crisp new code completion?

Give your keyboard and hands some much-needed rest with Direct FTP’s code completion! Start typing any HTML tag or attribute, and Direct FTP will help you finish the code automatically. It even properly closes your HTML tags for you. Talk about a boost in efficiency!

FTP logs are cryptic and difficult to read, right? No need to worry about that with Direct FTP! The new FTP Activity Pane cleanly outlines everything you’ve done. When you upload or download your files, the FTP Activity Pane shows the progress and result of the transfer. You’ll also see it here when you open a file in Direct FTP’s File Editor or Image Previewer. If an error occurs, it will be shown in a clean, readable way. This really keeps the process of managing your site seamless and user-friendly.

You need a program that can handle all the different flavors of FTP out there. In Direct FTP, you now have a choice between an array of different protocols, including FTP, SFTP, FTPS, and their different methods of encryption. Direct FTP can now even handle HTTP.

All of these acronyms sound a bit overwhelming? Don’t worry. It’s enough to know that Direct FTP can now connect to practically any type of FTP out there.

This new feature is powerful and elegant; it’s the strong, silent type. You may not realize it yet, but once you start using it, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it. Basically, combo bookmarks act like normal bookmarks, except it lets you save the local AND remote folders, then call them both up simultaneously at any time. This works wonders for managing your files. Call up any combo bookmark with just two clicks, and you’ll quickly be zipping along with your file management.

Forget where you left that important file? Direct FTP didn’t. It remembers where you’ve browsed in a session on your local computer and keeps your tracks neatly tucked away in a drop-down menu. Accessing a folder you’ve already been to is effortless. Click the drop-down, select the folder, and you’re there.

At the bottom of the Direct FTP window is a handy, info-packed status bar. This bar contains lots of information at any given time, helping to keep you informed of what’s going on in your session just by glancing at it. This helps keep you on the ball whether you’re managing just a few files or hundreds of them.

The new Direct FTP is a brand new application. We didn’t take the previous Direct FTP code and add or modify it; we coded this new hot rod from a totally clean slate. This helps increase compatibility and lends Direct FTP a whole new feel. Go ahead, open it up and take a deep breath. It smells just like a new car! And it runs like one, too.
