Tell a Friend About Our Cool Software
You will need an ftp hostname, username, and password. You must get this information from your web hosting company. If you do not yet have a web host, or you are not sure what a web host is, you can visit this site for details:

Once you have all of the necessary information, the next step is to enter the information into Direct FTP. To do this, first go to File->Add New Server to set up a new server profile. This will take you to a wizard that will help you set up your server. The following list further explains the blanks:
Profile Name- You can make this anything you wish, it is just a nickname to remember the server profile by.
Username and Password- Here you enter the username and password your host gave to you.
Host name and Default Host Folder- For hostname, enter the ftp hostname/address your host company gave you to use. The default host folder can probably be left blank, unless your host company has told you otherwise. This setting is used to set the directory on your server you will be placed in when you connect. If you leave it blank, you will be placed in a default folder.
Proxy Server- A Proxy server is sometimes used by a network to connect the computers on the network to the internet. If you think you may have a proxy server, please contact your system administrator to help you configure this setting. Otherwise, just click "No."
You are now finished configuring your server profile.
Once you have the server profile information entered, click on the
button to connect. Clicking this button will bring up a list of servers, just click on the server you wish to connect to. Your information should look something like this:
You will know you are connected when you see a list of files and folders displayed under "My Site" on the right side of the screen.
