Instead of using an image, or solid color for your background you can use Gradients.

1. Start by clicking on the Page button.

2. Choose the Gradient option and then click on the colored bar to choose which Gradient you want.

3. Choose the colors you want by clicking on the Triangle and choosing the color

4. By clicking in the color bar you can add a new Triangle and choose the color of it.

5 In this example we set the left color of this new Triangle to white, and the right side to black.

6. In this image you can see what the result of these settings are.

7. After you create your new background you can then put text or images over it.

You can choose from countless color schemes and gradient patterns at this point. The limit is your imagination. You can also choose the Horizontal option and have the gradient appear on the sides of your page instead of the top or bottom.
