When using a background for your Web page, either a color or an image, it is important to ensure that the text on the page remains easily readable. Black text against a dark blue background, for example, can be pretty tough to read. Likewise, a busy background image can make it hard to decipher the text. One useful technique is to use a graphics program, such as Adobe Photoshop, to reduce the contrast of the background image. This will make it a lot easier to read the text.
