Chapter 2: Image Size Attributes


When you use a basic <img> tag as was described in the previous section, the browser will display the image at its "natural" size. This means that each pixel in the image will get one pixel on the screen. You can see how big this is when you preview the Web page you are working on, but you can get an idea ahead of time if you know the pixel size of the image. These simple formulas give you the approximate "natural" size of an image:

Display width in inches = horizontal image pixels / 96
Display height in inches = vertical image pixels / 96
